Adopt An Artifact: IRON BILBOES LEVEL While first searching for the Atocha, the Fisher team stumbled on a ship wreck that would later prove to be the oldest recovered slave ship to have sunk while engaged in the slave trade, the Henrietta Marie. Almost 100 pairs of shackles or bilboes were found on board, a chilling reminder of this ship's purpose. Your tax deductible donation at the Iron Bilboes level entitles you to the following: Artifact description card, Quarterly electronic museum updates for one year, Diving into Glory: the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum by Carol Shaughnessy, and Spirits of the Passage: the Story of the Transatlantic Slave Trade by Dr. Madeline Burnside.
